I'm surprised he didn't mention the synergy of Divine Purpose with Justicar's Vengeance. It automatically grants free HP spenders, so it actually gives reason to cast it whenever it procs. Not sure how it sims, but 1) it's not often he misses synergies like that to at least point them out to people and 2) it goes back to what he was saying about proc-based gameplay.

I wish ret paladins had the ability that the angel bro has in HotS: Drop a holy sword from the skies to a target location. Reactivate to teleport/dash to the sword. Then they could play around with (pvp and regular) talents to give it defensive and offensive perks. For example: hitting enemies roots them, hitting allies shields them, maybe activating the dash would give you movememt speed

Good video preach but I would like it if you did more actually game play instruction as you have done with your past expansion guides. Plus all the nice quirks to set yourself apart on dps not raid utility.

Just when i was thinking of learning this spec, you release this. *gives a heartfelt applaude*

What is that HUD/UI add on?
Shakkari on 11. Aug. 2017.
Hey Preach, great video keep up the good work. Side note, if you're using Divine Hammer for AoE you usually want to pair it with Fires of Justice 15 talent so that you don't have as much downtime and lack of single target for bosses in mythic+ for example. Generally pair Zeal and Blade of Wrath at level 60 for max single target dps. Awesome guide!
Adam Lim on 11. Aug. 2017.
Versatility is priority now.... shit i my vers and mastery are the lowest

jaykid1576 on 11. Aug. 2017.
Hey dude nice guide, but most certainty a few mistakes as discussed below, especially with talents and stat weights
Eduardo Lobo on 11. Aug. 2017.
oh and have to ask, as a ilvl 925 it comes more important to have mastery? right now i have a lot but is just cuz the ToS tier set gives a lots of mastery and i dont know if it is because it turns more relevant when ur climbing ilvl?
Eduardo Lobo on 11. Aug. 2017.
but there is somthing strange right now, im ret paly 925, on talents on tier 2, dont know if it is just me but i feel more smooth playing with Fires of Justice and not Zeal cuz when im on my rotation it happens that in some moment im been like i have everything on cd and it happens really often when im with Zeal but when im with Fires of Justice i can do my rotation very well. Im been trying to do some tests with both of talents but i dont really see too much diference in dps it feels that with Fires im doing some more dps but i dont know

I personally love it, my only complaint is that haste is too good, I prefer fat numbers and crits to faster swings and skills. finger cramps also so high when it comes to haste.
NamesAreForNerds on 11. Aug. 2017.
Rather inaccurate guide, they're usually better..
Melanie Martinez on 11. Aug. 2017.
Preach pls, my life would be complete if you tell me what font you are using, I like it.

Interesting vid, I was waiting for this guide, but I'm a bit sad to find some problems with what you're saying. Now, I'm not doing mythic raids atm, but I have been maining the spec this xpac. Stats: Haste=Crit=Vers>Mastery. Haste, crit, and versatility are all so close to each other, that getting more of one, makes the others more valuable. Essentially to get the best stat combination you have to sim it when you have a new piece of gear. Mastery is lagging behind significantly. That said, at first go stack haste, because without it, your play feels clunky as hell with way too much downtime. Retribution buff: Broken as f*ck, as proven by the Method Gul'dan video where they have people die on purpose to give their Ret paladin the buff. Talents: Consecration is not worth taking in realistic situations. Execution Sentence is worth taking, if you can time it properly, better to just stick with Final Verdict. Fires of Justice and Zeal are both viable, but Zeal is slightly better in outp

Paladin ret gets got some buffs lately... Cool and I'm glad that blizz is trying. But for me this class needs rebuild. It is strangely designed. Stuff that should be AoE are better then single target spells. Versality as a main stat.... two fun things about rotation shouldn't be in talents. Both our procs are for me a must to make rotation engaging. Now when they buff Devine Hammer it will be default choice. And even I like the look of hammers around my pally this talent is boring compares to ranged blade of justice + proc. Same with crusade strike proc. Again to make ret cool u have to have lego ring. Like used to BM hunter to have 2 charges of dire beast - and today it is baseline. Make our procs baseline and I'm happy. And give us two charges of judgment. Switching targets would be more active. I love "support" part of ret. Word of Glory should be free just with CD like healing elixir for monk. I really liked helping healers to off heal in 5 man with word of glory and judgment heal
Valscorn01 on 11. Aug. 2017.
I honestly love ret, but i feel like blizzard put all their chips into paladins having Ashbringer to carry the weight of the spec. And it didn't work.

That fuckin intro quote, what
promage100 on 11. Aug. 2017.
Tnx for the good vid mate!!!!!Helped me a lot.
thrialz on 11. Aug. 2017.
lol so for more dps you run over and watch them die for a buff or do you save them and dont get a buff rofl
anids1988 on 11. Aug. 2017.
Wait don't say vers over haste!! Haste is king till basicly 22%+ and even then!! Sims start telling you to take mastery around 25% haste :p but yeah don't do that :) but yeah try to not do mechanics cuz if you pop wings you stay on boss! It's better to just die then lose a wings lol (I'm joking of course but it's bad lol)

What is this character frame addon?!? Looks pretty nice...
Fromaster24 on 10. Aug. 2017.
I wonder what would happen if you had a 25 man group with a 2 tanks, 3 healers, and the other 20 dps be a mix of ret pallys and shadow priests who took surrender to madness. Have one shadow priest use SoM at the beginning of the fight, eventually he dies giving all the rets 20% extra damage as another shadow priest uses SoM and this just goes on, would this ever work and if so would it be effective?
James Sab on 10. Aug. 2017.
Dam thats my mount preach and my tmog to xD
Resention on 10. Aug. 2017.
I have to disagree. Outside of outdoor content, like World Quests, you NEVER use Justicar's Vengeance. Word of Glory is almost always better. Just because you can smash a single target every now and then when it's stunned doesn't make it good.
Cameron Lewis on 10. Aug. 2017.
They fixed sub rogue, they can still fix paladin have faith guys... :(
Axel Pettersson on 10. Aug. 2017.
Ret paladin healing is amazing when on 15 stacks of crusade
Daniel Beesley on 10. Aug. 2017.
I've mained a Ret Pally since Cata, and it hurts me to see it now. It's bright, flashy, and it makes a lot of noise and sparks when you do your attacks, but that's about it. :(
Daniel Watson on 10. Aug. 2017.
DS was initially a whirlwind ability at the at of BC and has flip-flopped back and forth till the end of cata.

I've said it before: Ret pally was clearly designed by a recovering cocaine addict, intimately familiar with the dizzying highs and unbearable droughts between them. Crusade is amazing when you hit stupid numbers of haste, but without SoTHL the rest of your downtime is just garbage.
Alex Watts on 10. Aug. 2017.
OH, I've done my ret pally all wrong....woopsies. 36% mast
Enril on 10. Aug. 2017.
You will almost never take Justicars Vengeance , Templars Verdict does more damage with all the artifact traits and it costs less. Eye for an eye would usually be taken , if there is physical dmg that needs to be mitigated.
Lex Benjamin on 10. Aug. 2017.
Ret is a great spec!... when you have Soul of the Highlord or Liadrin's. Okay, it's just a good spec. Maybe it's just okay...
Lune on 10. Aug. 2017.
I miss baseline Divine Purpose :(
James Lewis on 10. Aug. 2017.
Retribution is a little simple I agree, but it's still extremely satisfying to play when geared well. It's a non-stop lightshow with almost 0 downtime, and constant huge chunky numbers/raid utility all bundled together in a glorious demon-slaying, light-infused set of shiny armor. If you have a well optimised retri paladin, at a high item level and fully understand the class, you will know what I'm talking about.
ShadowSpanSpb on 10. Aug. 2017.
Retri gameplay wise is an arms warrior but without execute

Galewalion on 10. Aug. 2017.
I love my ret pally. Main him since MoP SoO, having 40% haste and full set from SoO was so much fun... it felt like playing giutar hero on my keyboard :D WoD was even better... but because it was WoD I havent played alot. Legion so far is... my god what a roller coaster of numbers ;/ I still love it, no matter the numbers. Skills look amazing, sets are pure epic, and new corrupted Ashbringer *drooling*... I woudn't mind lower numbers if ret could be support class, like give us 10 bufs that everyone want and boom, no longer will we be kicked from pugs (such a sweet lie :D) Also Preach... t2 and no cape from Ulduar from quest? just WHY?
xIronwafflexx on 10. Aug. 2017.
Divine Storm came in the pre Wrath patch at the end of BC. Just to clarify.
